Christmas Nativity Costumes
Everyone loves a nativity play. It's a Christmas institution which just doesn't date. Based on the story of the birth of Jesus it's a reminder of our Christian culture and why we celebrate Christmas in the UK. Proud parents and grandparents flock to schools and Churches to see little children act out the Nativity in their cute Christmas nativity costumes. So where did the first Nativity Play take place? Saint Francis of Assisi is credited with setting the first Nativity Play in Italy in 1223. In those days, not many people could read the Bible so this was a way of bringing the story of the birth of Jesus alive for a wider audience. He included live animals in his Nativity Play although these days children get to play the parts of the animals.
For a girl, one of the most popular nativity characters is an angel. Dressing up as an angel complete with wings and halo is a fantasy.
